Dust storms have had the most horrible effect in the driest region of the Plains in 1930s especially Southeastern Colorado, Southwest Kansas and the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas. Tons of topsoil were blown off barren fields and carried in storm clouds for hundreds of miles. The entire region, and eventually the entire country, was affected by it.  Dust storm, also known as dust bowl is real, which is probably what makes them extremely frightening!]]></description>
