Most important thing is that in the moment of such a crisis the potential victim loses courage and that is the point of victory of assailant. The victim should not think even twice before causing injury to him in whatever way she can.

Screaming should help, as it might grab some attention and attack the doer in every way possible! This would certainly make them back off!

Its very easy to sit and talk of what needs to be done, but when actually faced by such situation, any women will be shit scared and forget all lessons. Its all in the mind.
But hopefully reading this kind articles will help prepare a bit so when in such situation, at least you would remember to do somethings.
I would like to share one thing that a friend of mine used to do when she had to travel alone in long distance trains. If saw any ”lukha” co-passengers around her, she would pick up a decent looking guy and for any lame excuse start arguing with that person and yell at him to give an impression of being very ”khadoos”... She never faced any trouble after that nor did any guy try to get fresh with her like they try to do when they see a girl traveling alone :)

Often rickshaw walas try to make the late night ride miserable. Firstly I memorize the number, as soon the driver behaveds weirdly I’d pretend like I am talking to my dad on the phone and read the rick number out loud and also tell him the exact location. The minute the driver hears the convo, he would stops meddling.

And here is my own tip for woman who is not strong enough to physically fight the rapist nor has courage to yell or scream or run...
1> Open your mouth WIDE
2> STICK OUT your tongue,
3> and rub your finger on the TOP of the INNERMOST part of tongue (near the throat)...
This will make you puke or make all the weird noises that will put off any guy in this world!
I know most of you will feel this is the most disgusting thing to do, but I am sure it will be very effective... and nothing like it if you can actually start puking and puke on that guy :)

The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun, braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

Though most men get attracted to women with long hair, the reason for getting raped for having long hair is unbelievable.

Gaurav..I never really knew about Rapex. I don’t think it’s a very practical option. I doubt a lot of women in India will ever place an order. I mean the awareness level is really low. Isn’t it easier to stay calm and carry chillie or pepper spray? I have it! It’s very effective.

A compulsive rapist will rape a woman if the environment is just fine to carry out his act. Most rapists suffer from some kind of a psychological disorder and should be treated and not punished. A little sympathy is need.

Yes Bill, most rapists are mentally ill. That’s one of the reasons why they attack women…to feel powerful. People think punishing them might change their outlook, but they are wrong. These people are in serious need of medical attention, the sooner we start realizing this, better for us!

Are you saying the chances of pregnant women getting raped is slim or should pregnant women run when they are attacked.

studies have shown, many rapist will not rape a pregnant woman, or at least think twice...So if you are in a situation, restrained, you might want to try pleading for your ”unborn child”, even if you are not pregnant..I just watched a documentary and various woman were spared being raped by claiming they were pregnant.

Obviously, first option, if given a chance, is to run like hell, screaming all the way.
