Scary!! I had seen these pics earlier in a forward mail but not sure if all are real? Some seems to be made up... but must be frightening to be in middle of one of these.

Why in the world do you think this is not real? Dust storms have had the most horrible effect in the driest region of the Plains in 1930s especially Southeastern Colorado, Southwest Kansas and the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas. Tons of topsoil were blown off barren fields and carried in storm clouds for hundreds of miles. The entire region, and eventually the entire country, was affected by it. Dust storm, also known as dust bowl is real, which is probably what makes them extremely frightening!

Nithya, dust storms do occur but some pics look too dramatic ... as if digitally made... if not, the people who faced it must have had their worst nightmare come true!

Yeah i guess they look very dramatic. But these pictures have been published in reputed magazines like Natural Geographic, so i wouldn’t doubt their authenticity.
